Wooh, it’s been a while everybody! This week has been crazy. Concerts Monday night and Tuesday night, celebratory dinner and board games on Wednesday, and just general laziness last night.

Celebrating what, you may ask? MY NEW JOB OFFER!

Starting on September 23rd I will officially be a state employee – I can’t wait to have health insurance again!

Now onto the shows. Monday was incredible – it was the first time I’d seen Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace since 2007. I saw them together in November of 2007 and then I saw 3DG at the Bobby Bones Anniversary Bash in December (who’d have thought that a decade later I’d be working for iHeart and KISS FM?). I also saw Chevelle for the first time and it was everything I’d ever wanted, although it would’ve been even better if they’d played Closure.

This was from the tour in 2007 at the Bell County Expo Center. I was right at the stage and at one point Ben crowd surfed and I touched him and it was the best day of my life up until that point.

This also marked the first time I’d seen 3DG since Adam (pictured above to my left in the black hoodie) left the band.

I didn’t record a whole song because a) I hate being that guy, plus I can’t scream and dance and sing when I’m recording and b) my arms get tired holding up my phone for that long.

Regarding Breaking Benjamin, I was extremely confused that Aaron and Keith sang some of the songs instead of Ben, including my fave Sooner or Later (above). I was initially a little offended but then I realized that I’m in love with Keith Wallen and it’s okay. He has floppy hair and glasses and nice arms and plays guitar and he’s pretty much my dream guy, okay?

They also played a crazy medley of The Imperial March / Cowboys From Hell / Smells Like Teen Spirit / Bohemian Rhapsody / Enter Sandman / Bulls On Parade / Drum Solo (thanks, Setlist.fm). Pretty much everybody got a turn singing during that session. The video of Sooner or Later starts during the drum solo because I knew it was coming (again, thanks Setlist.fm).

Overall, it was an absolutely amazing show. My view was very different than it was 12 years ago, but I also wasn’t getting elbowed and kicked and was able to dance around as much as I wanted because our row was pretty empty.

Let me tell you though, that was the absolute WORST time I’ve had getting out of CotA out of any time I’ve been there, including the X Games when it was flooding. It took 45 minutes just to get out of the parking lot and down to 71. And that was with police directing traffic.

Tuesday night we went to see The National with Alvvays. I don’t really listen to The National but I love Alvvays, and my boyfriend likes The National but he only knew like 3 of their songs.

We were originally seated in the 100s section but right before Alvvays came out (the show was delayed due to storms) a security guard came by and asked if we wanted pit. So that was cool. Wish someone had done that the night before.

The National was actually surprisingly enjoyable. I usually think their music is boring but Matt, the lead singer, is a certified crazy person and was very fun to watch. He walked around with a red Solo cup the whole show and at one point threw it – and the beer inside it – into the audience to a guy close to me who proceeded to drink the rest of the beer.

I was also AMAZED that they managed to fit 23 (!!!!!) songs into their set since it was delayed over an hour because of the storm.

This was a MUCH MORE PLEASANT experience getting out. We got home in less time than it took us to leave the night before.
