Yesterday was Batfest! It was a much shorter day for me than last year, but it was so hot and I didn’t have much refuge this time. It was also incredibly humid. Around 7 it finally started raining, and they actually shut down the festival for a while due to lightning.
What was great this year was having VIP access. Sure the free food and drinks were okay but what I was most excited about was pit access.
I also found out yesterday that apparently Josey Scott hasn’t been in Saliva for eight years. Oops.
I did not get to see Tantric because I was covering the costume contest on the other stage and it ran super far behind. 😦
I also didn’t see the Ying Yang Twins because when it was time to go we bounced. I was made of sweat at that point and really needed a shower. I don’t know if any of my bretheren stayed but Erika and I were outta there.

I felt so bad for the people who were there to see Ray Wylie Hubbard because he only got two songs into his set before they called it for lightning and then didn’t get to finish. At least I got this great shot of him with Pickett, one of our KVET jocks!
Anyway, I’m exhausted now so I’ll leave you with a selection of pics from yesterday!

The gallery above is Hanna Barakat and her band. They were incredible! We heard them soundcheck when we first got there and like four or five different people – independently of each other – all thought it was Evanescence.
